A tasty and healthy dinner is a sign of success for Forefront’s social media and editorial coordinator Jaclyn Crawford

My day doesn’t stop. My work here at Forefront keeps me on my toes and at the end of the day, I usually end up sprinting to catch my bus home. When for most people, dinner is just another daily task, it is my time to wind down, focus and create. At the end of the day, sitting down to a home-cooked meal with my husband is my sign of success.
It wasn’t always this way. Everyone knows in college, the diet consists of anything cheap and easy to cook. I have had my share of Ramen soup, macaroni and cheese, and even at one time in my life, where my diet consisted of solely a concoction a friend and I called “noodles and ranch.” (It is everything the name says) After college, my diet changed slightly, but not too much. It wasn’t until I got married and had my own place that I was really able to enjoy making dinner.
Looking a bit deeper, cooking provides more then just a way to wind down, but a sign that I have reached my own success. I am able to afford and plan for better meals now, and I have someone to share them with. Cooking and eating brings together family and friends into my home, and we are able to share a meal and memories together. Success to me isn’t just about the latest title I have attached to my name or money in my bank account, but holding onto the things that last. It is about creating something I can be proud of, and for others to enjoy as well.
